Monitoring ESEA/NCLB Title II Part A
Teacher Quality and Professional Development

The purpose of monitoring for ESEA/NCLB Title II A is to assess:

  • LEA implementation of high quality professional development external link(see definition #34);
  • LEA progress towards, and compliance with, highly qualified teacher and paraprofessional requirements defined in Titles I A, II A and IX;
  • LEA’s appropriate use of Title II A monies.

A sample of LEAs are selected to be monitored every year. Monitoring may take one of three forms:
